The Foundation preserves and advances the legacy of Dorothy Dehner, an important twentieth-century American artist whose work in sculpture, printmaking, and drawing contributed to the history of American modernism. It cares for Dehner's works of art, archives, and related holdings and seeks to make them accessible through research, exhibitions, loans, publications, educational initiatives, and eventual placement in public collections.

Guided by Dehner's charitable intent, the Foundation also supports education in the visual arts and seeks to extend the public value of her legacy for artists, scholars, students, and the broader community.
